“I am so glad I found Jane. Her coaching and editing empowered me, improved my writing chops, and made me funnier. Her feedback was challenging and encouraging in equal parts. I’m sure I will be a repeat customer.”

“Jane has an incredible gift. She is of those rare writers who is also a teacher, an editor, and a coach. When I hand over work to her, I know it's in great hands, and I always look forward to her brilliant take.”

Do you want to write a book, but you’re not sure where to begin, or how to actually get the damned thing finished? OR, have you written a complete manuscript or proposal (go you!), and you’re now ready for feedback and direction to make it best it can be? AND do you want to work with someone who’s positive, patient, and at times hilarious?

Well, you are in luck, my friend.

Whether you’re just starting a new project and want accountability, encouragement, and troubleshooting as you go, or you’ve got a complete draft that’s ready for a fresh set of eyes and detailed, constructive feedback, I can help—with empathy, honesty, and, most important, an unwavering focus on your intentions and goals for your work. My areas of expertise include memoir, novels, and business/professional narratives and my services include:

Coaching: I’ll help you set goals and milestones for your book or other writing project, meet with you (via Zoom) on a regular basis to keep you on track, and provide encouragement, advice, or troubleshooting. If you choose, I can provide editorial feedback on your work along the way.

Manuscript Assessment: I’ll read your book draft and provide a thorough assessment of what’s working and what’s not, with high-level recommendations for revision.

Developmental Editing: I’ll read your book draft and provide detailed in-line comments and suggestions, as well as in-depth recommendations for revision.

Line Editing: I’ll polish and tighten your prose for style, syntax, clarity and flow. (Note that while there is some overlap here with copy-editing and proofreading, those services—which I do not offer—provide a more granular level of detail.)

I’m also available on an hourly basis for help with query letters, understanding the publishing biz, or working on specific writing skills.
